Do you or someone you know have persistent itchy bumps located on the nape (back) of their neck? Do you swear you might have been a victim of an unclean razor or clippers? Well you could have a rare, or maybe not so rare skin condition known as Acne Keloidalis Nuche (AKN). It is estimated that up to 13% of men in the black community of America suffer from AKN. That is somewhere around 2 1/2 million black men! There are probably more that are unreported.
There should be a place to talk and figure out solutions for this condition that doesn't include topical steroids or even steroid injections. My AKN came on later in life, well past my 45th birthday. My mother thought it was a reaction to the certain foods I was consuming.
I'm interested it see if this blog will reach anyone else with living with AKN. It would be great to have a place where we can discuss and find solutions for this condition without
relying on topical steroids or steroid injections.
Personally, my AKN developed later in life, well after I turned 45. My mother believed it was a reaction to certain foods I was consuming. I'm curious to know if there are others out there living with AKN who have been hiding and feeling embarrassed about it.
